Manto

In Quechua Manto means from the sky, from above.

Manto is protection, a hug and shelter.
The textile is in charged, it has a soul,
It travels its own journey and has a story.
It was born out of my deepest need to connect with nature and a culture that was still strongly integrated to it.

I travelled to the north and was able to find what I was looking for.
I sensed its presence, its identity, and the silence of an empty dialogue.

I looked at how to get closer,
And created a project that would allow me to connect and live with them, learn and
Exchange knowledge.
A trip to connect, to share.

They opened their homes to welcome us,
They accepted us, they invited us in,
We listened,
We observed the tranquillity and simplicity of their daily tasks,
Their elegance, customs.

The men knit,
The women spin while they sing.
They walk, laugh in an honest and simple way, slightly shy.
They practice silence, allowing its space.

From my perspective and aesthetic language I contribute,
I search, organize, and communicate.

We walked and visited a few homes, different families,
We dreamt and formed a team.
We encouraged, inspired and committed to a way of being together and creating.
We give the best of each other.

The return to Buenos Aires, the city and its dynamic.
The search for the urban silhouette.
To cut, put together, sow.
In search of combining excellence, the best weavers from there and the wisdom of the great tailors that existed in our city.

Printing on textiles,
Textiles that speak of other times when there was time.
We reflect, observe, study and understand
The contrast, the different rhythms between their world and the urban one.
We looked to build a dialogue, harmony.
We designed prints and shapes that reflect emotions, vibrations, and frequencies.

To connect in order to feel, disconnect to perceive.
Silence, to enter into a timeless space, which is always beyond.
Timeless which is always beyond shape,
And allows us to enjoy the beauty of a new form.
